Carbon steel notes
A36 is the workhorse structural grade for general fabrication. A572 Gr. 50 gives higher yield strength for structural applications, and A514/T1 is the pressure-vessel plate grade.

- Standard hot-rolled structural plate and sheet. Minimum yield 36 ksi.
- A572 Gr. 50
- Higher-strength structural plate. Minimum yield 50 ksi, improved weldability.
- A514 / T1
- Pressure-vessel quality plate for boilers and tanks.
- A615 / A706
- Rebar grades. A615 is the standard deformed bar; A706 is the low-carbon weldable grade.
